Like Wade, Colton reveals in episode five that he had no idea what Medieval Times was before spending his last $5 for gas to show up for the casting call. I would like to learn more about Steven’s stained glass work. This is why a full-length series is necessary. Most of the guys struggle coming up with several interesting facts about themselves at the end of these episodes some don’t at all. Next up is episode four with Steven, who says he “always kind of wanted to be a knight in shining armor - to come save someone.” He makes stained-glass art in his spare time. Someone please go back, find all the footage, and produce an in-depth docuseries about this group of young, aspiring Medieval Times knights learning how to joust and clean horse poop in preparation for their big debut at Castle Scottsdale. Both of these facts are a shame, because The Making of a Knight should absolutely be a television series. Not every movie about medieval knights follows this outline, but it's definitely the most common trend in the genre. While this is not often an accurate portrayal of history, it leads to some truly romantic tales of valor and courage that make for highly entertaining flicks. Many of the best medieval movies revolve around a heroic protagonist, fighting for the sake of others. ![]() The Middle Ages also offer a seemingly endless stream of documented conflicts that inevitably lead to some impressive spectacles in the movies, even if they are typically overly romanticized. The movie industry has been fascinated by this period of history for decades, probably because it is so much different from life in the 20th and 21st centuries. The medieval knight movie niche is one of the most consistent subgenres in Hollywood, making it fun to take a look at the best films it has to offer. ![]()
