Edge of tomorrow movie12/16/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The way that scene is acted and scripted is well above and beyond what I was expecting when I first went in to this movie. A good example of this is the whole passage from where they escape the beach and Tom Cruise is trying to delay them moving onwards to the helicopter, because he knows every single time he’s got to that position she dies (“Why do you care?”.”I wish I didn’t know you, but I do”). I watched this again the other day and, aside from it looking great, it confirmed to me what makes this film different and subsequently much better than a lot of other ‘similar’ films it has a genuine emotional edge to it that keeps the stakes constantly high and made me actually care. Earth military already has sonic weapons and high frequency weapons, but regardless of the aliens weakness, their "armored skin" isn't going to stop a 30mm armor piercing round. Most of europe would be lost, but the UK, asia, US, would be ok.Īs an aside, that's one thing that pissed me off about "A quiet place" - such a stupid concept. Kinda silly to speculate, but I'd imagine that humanity would fortify natural hard rock areas where the aliens couldn't burrow through, and just continually bombard the lost territory. But an autocannon firing 40mm rounds thousands of times per minute is going to fuck up anything, no matter how alien. People get tripped up with sci-fi tropes and believe that somehow physics no longer apply. I think humanity would have to give up territory (because of the aliens ability to burrow and hide underground). But if neither the aliens nor Rita/Cage had the ability, then I bet the aliens would've won. ![]()
